Previews approximate how each site shows a link. Sites cache cards, so changes can take a while to appear.
What is this tool?
Links shared on social media and chat apps use Open Graph tags to show a title, description, and image. Fill in the fields — or paste a page's HTML to read its existing tags — and see how the link will look on Google, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Slack before you publish.
The generator writes the standard title and description tags, a canonical link, Open Graph tags (used by Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, and others), and Twitter/X card tags. Values are HTML-escaped for you.
Use a share image of 1200 × 630 pixels with an absolute https:// URL. Previews are close approximations; each platform tweaks its layout over time and caches cards, so use the platform's own debugger to refresh an already-shared link.
How to use the Meta Tag Generator & OG Preview
- Enter the page title, description, URL, and share image — or paste existing HTML under “Start from an existing page”.
- Watch the character counters: titles over 60 and descriptions over 160 characters are likely to be cut off.
- Switch between the Google, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Slack previews.
- Copy the generated tags into your page's <head>.
Examples
Open Graph tags

Frequently asked questions
Can it read the tags of a live website?
Browsers block pages from fetching other sites, so paste the HTML instead: open the page, choose View Source, copy everything, and paste it into “Start from an existing page”.
What size should my Open Graph image be?
1200 × 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) works on every major platform. Keep important text away from the edges, as some apps crop the image.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?
X falls back to Open Graph for most fields, but twitter:card controls the card style, so the generator includes both.
Do meta tags affect Google rankings?
The title strongly influences rankings and clicks, and the description influences clicks. Open Graph tags don't affect rankings but make shared links far more clickable.
