What is this tool?

Make one barcode or a whole numbered series for inventory labels, asset tags, and product packaging. Choose the symbology, starting number, and label size, then download everything as a ZIP of images or a single print-ready PDF.

Sequential barcodes are the backbone of inventory labels, asset tags, tickets, and product packaging. ToolForge generates the full sequence for you: start at 0, 1000, or any number, count by any step, and keep a fixed number of digits with leading zeros.

EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, and ITF-14 check digits are calculated automatically, so every code scans correctly. Note that retail barcodes sold in stores need a company prefix registered with GS1.

Each barcode is laid out to fit your exact label size without stretching the text. PNG and JPEG files carry DPI information so they print at the size you entered, and SVG is vector. Merge into PDF builds either print sheets (as many barcodes as fit on each A4, Letter, A3, A5, or Legal page, with optional cut lines) or one page per barcode for label printers.

Everything is generated in your browser — even thousands of barcodes — with no uploads and no sign-up.

How to use the Barcode Generator

  1. Pick a barcode type — Code 128 works for almost anything; EAN-13 / UPC-A are for retail products.
  2. Enter the first number, how many barcodes you need, and what to count by (for example 1 to count 1, 2, 3…).
  3. Optionally add a prefix, suffix, or minimum digits for leading zeros.
  4. Set the width and height in centimetres, the resolution, and the file format, then click Generate.
  5. View, download, or delete barcodes in the list, then download them all as a ZIP or merge them into one PDF for printing.

Frequently asked questions

How many barcodes can I generate at once?

Up to 10,000 per batch. The list is paginated and searchable. Download all bundles every barcode into one ZIP file, and Merge into PDF combines them into a single print-ready PDF.

Which barcode type should I use?

Code 128 for internal labels, inventory, and shipping (letters and numbers). EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products. ITF-14 for outer cartons. Code 39 when older scanners require it.

Are the check digits calculated for me?

Yes. For EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, and ITF-14 the check digit is computed automatically and shown in the list.

Will the barcodes print at the right size?

Yes. Barcodes in the PDF keep exactly the width and height you enter, and PNG/JPEG files include DPI metadata. When printing, choose “Actual size” (not “Fit to page”).

Can I print many barcodes on one A4 or Letter sheet?

Yes. Click Merge into PDF and choose Sheet. Pick the paper size, orientation, margin, and spacing, and ToolForge fits as many barcodes per page as possible at their real size, with optional light cut lines.
