Text Sorter: Sort Lines Alphabetically

Sort lines ascending or descending.

Runs locally in your browser — your input is not uploaded.

Paste lines to sort.

What is this tool?

Alphabetize a list of names, tags, glossary terms, or import statements in one click. Each line is treated as one item, and you can sort ascending or descending, with or without case sensitivity.

Sorting uses standard lexicographic comparison. Case-insensitive mode compares lowercased copies but preserves the original line text in the output.

How to use the Text Sorter

  1. Paste the lines you want sorted.
  2. Choose ascending or descending and case sensitivity.
  3. Click Sort and copy the result.

Frequently asked questions

Does this sort numbers naturally?

Not in V1 — numbers are sorted as text (so 10 comes before 2). Natural sort can be added later.

Why do uppercase words appear before lowercase ones?

In case-sensitive mode, lines are compared by character code, and A–Z come before a–z. Choose Case insensitive to mix them together alphabetically.

Are empty lines kept?

Yes. Empty lines are sorted like any other line, so in ascending order they collect at the top. Remove them first if you do not need them.

Want more power later?

Premium tools, higher limits, and API access are on the roadmap. V1 stays free and private in your browser.
